Wow almost a month has gone by without a post. Last weekend we celebrated his birthday. We had his first big -invite-your-class- party at the local gymnastics center. Although the turnout was not high (and the service poor) he had a lot of fun. He had asked daily for over a month when his birthday party was so I am so glad it is over.
He did not pass his ice skating class but promises to listen better to his teacher next class. I hope to have him in the holiday ice show.
He got a big ball that he and his sister (and sister's friends) can roll around inside like a bunch of gerbils. He also got baseball stuff.

Roller skating is not his thing
As much as he loves ice skating, roller skating is not for him. He got another injury at the roller rink. The first time ended up in the emergency room.
Who would have thought that two things that seem so alike are not.
He did not have such a great time ice skating this week, either. We got him new skates that did not work for him so we are stuck with the rentals.
I think he is finally getting it that our dog is gone for good. He broke down crying until he fell asleep

He is so sweet
He stands at the bus stop every morning and tells his big sister goodbye and that he is going to miss her.
He knows she is having trouble with school and gives her a hug and kiss and tells her that he loves her. He says he will beat up her teacher for her.
He is going to make someone a very happy wife when he grows up

Bubble wrap
He is amusing himself with bubblewrap right now. It is amazing how fun it is to him, jumping up and down on it. He got his Halloween outfit, a baseball jersey and hat. He put in a request for his birthday cake. Baseball theme of course. How fun to be so easily amused. He is putting his own clothes on now, too.

Ice skating
He passed his first ice skating class and was very interested in the ice hockey players. I believe he found something that makes him as excited as baseball

Trees and potatoes and ice skating
My son played baseball while I cut down and pulled out three lilacs, platned two conifers. Then I played baseball with him. We went ice skating three times in four days. He is really getting to like it. Too bad I cannot find ice skates in his size. He harvested potatoes with me after we played baseball on another day.
Oh, and guess what he wants to be for trick or treating? That's right, a baseball player. Shouldn't be too hard.

Baseball
Well it's still all about playing ball with him. He enjoyed going for a bike ride too. He follows his sister everywhere except when I dont let him.
Yesterday we went to the park with friends. People are able to understand some of his speech now too.

Lazy day
Of course we played ball today. So did daddy. We also went for a bike ride and played crochet, although he plays by his own rules.
Which was okay, he loves the mini golf but that can get expensive. Crochet in the back yard is priced right:)
We are starting to get into the daily reading again now that school is going to start soon. We found Go Dog Go, which was always a favorite.
Me and sis took turns reading it to him

Ice skating
He did pretty good ice skating today, although the class was too advanced for him. He loves it anyway. I am signing him up for fall classes in the hopes that they are more organized. Trying to find ice skates in the fall is difficult.
We got home and of course had to play ball. He would catch the ball and then run around in a circle like he was running bases in our basement. It was too hot to go outside today.
Except for the harvesting of the potatoes. He really enjoyed finding and then washing off the potatoes.
He is so funny, he is such a follower. Anything big sis does he copies. He copies really well
He wants to go to Guatemala and get a baby

Beach day
Today my son engaged in two of his favorite things-water and playing ball. He is like my border collie, you can never throw enough ball.
He changed himself after our swim. And he got everything on right:)
He was my little helper when my back went out and even pulled my sock up for me.
We had a little sibling rivaly this morning but the new way I am handling this is to make them hold hands. So far this is working.

The first three and a half years
My son has always been the sweet affectionate one since we met him in Guatemala at the age of 14 months.
He was originally shy and quiet. He did not walk, he did not talk. We were worried the health reports we had received were wrong.
Then he warmed up to us, especially me. He spent the next three days in country kissing me as often as he could. Sometimes he would grab me by the hair and plant one on my cheek.
Then when we got him home he was terrified of the dogs so I had to carry him around the house for weeks.
He then became attached to our one year old border collie. They would steal something and hide under the table together with it. The dog stuck her tongue in his mouth every time she could get away with it but TG that stopped.
We did go through the first year with some minor health problems but all is okay now.
He is still affectionate and shy but he discovered a love for baseball that is uncanny for a three year old
He actually watches it. He cant read but he can pick it out the the TV guide lineup.
He is also very good at Wii sports and has learned to get himself on PBS kids online and play games
He is good at gymnastics, loves swimming, and ice skating, although his skills in the later two need work.
He follows his big sister around the house (which she hates) and they have a love/hate relationship.
He goes to school now so he can work on his speech. Words he says well include candy, baseball, chips, you need to wipe my butt.
